Immaculate Conception Mission
Casa Colorada, NM

The area that is now Casa Colorada was first settled by Spanish settlers in the 1740s, but was soon abandoned. The town was re-established (as Casa Colorada) in 1823, when a group of residents received a grant for the property. The original church was built in the 1920s, but fell ito ruins in the 1930s. It was rebuilt in 1949, with design and construction similar to earlier churches. It is now a mission of the Immaculate Conception Parish of Tomé, New Mexico.
