Christ the King Mission
Brogado (Balmorhea), Texas

This active and lovingly maintained church is located in the historical community of Brogado, which is just a few miles from Balmorhea in west Texas. The town is said to be named for Father Nicholas Brocardus Eiken, a Dutch Roman Catholic priest who served numerous churches and missions in the area in the early part of the twentieth century. Fr. Brocardus, who established the nearby Mission Mary at Calera, probably played a role in the founding of the Christ the King Mission. The original church was built in 1906, and the current building was completed in 1945. Christ the King is a mission of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Pecos, and is part of the Dioceses of El Paso.

Location:
Rt. 1 #3, Balmorhea, Texas (1st St @ Houston St)
coordinates: 30.9941250, -103.7290817
The church is on CR 316, which is a turn to the north off of TX SH 17 just east of Balmorhea. CR 316 turns to the right and runs parallel to TX SH 17 for less than a mile, then merges back into the state highway.
